Media Download Center

SanDisk, the world's largest supplier of innovative flash memory data storage products, wanted to create a flexible, self-service platform to enable people to download multimedia content to a variety of flash memory devices in a variety of venues and forums. These “Media Download Centers” encourage people to browse and select from a variety of digital entertainment content, from music to films. Users choose what content they’d like to either purchase through a promotional code or download for free. Users then insert a flash memory product (USB drives, microSD, miniSD cards, etc.) and download the desired content in seconds.

These Media Download Centers have been the centerpiece in a number of high profile marketing and promotional events, including the Rock The Bells Concert Series, CES Tradeshow, 3GSM World Congress and the MoFilm Festival, which encompasses Sundance, Cannes, Shanghai International, and the Locarno film festivals.

The Media Download Centers have served as a way for SanDisk to promote its “Wake Up Your Phone” mobile marketing campaign which encourages users to better utilize their flash memory found in mobile phones by enabling them to download and play a myriad of digital content including music, films, and other digital content.

In addition to educating the market about content and flash memory, the kiosks have been used to drive excitement, build relationships, and enhance the overall experience for customers at events around the world.

The kiosk software is built on Nanonaton’s Nanopoint software platform. The enclosures were designed and manufactured by Frank Mayer Associates and the PC hardware and components were provided by DFI.
