National Marine Sanctuary Program

Learning & Information Kiosk

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF) has embarked on an initiative to develop an informational kiosk that would educate, entertain and inform the public about the National Marine Sanctuary Program. Nanonation provided NMSF with a reliable software platform that enables users to interact with dynamic content, images and video files on a large format 19" touch screen. The outdoor kiosk offers a high-impact visual and auditory showcase of all the treasures the sanctuary has to offer to visitors. Users can learn about the Channel Islands specific research projects, education, outreach and resource protection programs, and extensive information on sanctuary species and habitats. Users can view underwater video of local shipwrecks & research projects currently underway in the sanctuary. The kiosks also provide real-time weather information from NOAA weather products, (i.e. users interested in checking offshore marine forecasts, tides & currents, swell models, & sea surface temperatures). The result of the program is a better and more meaningful experience for visitors who get to see and interact with sanctuary resources in a way not before possible.
