Build-A-Bear Name-Me
Kiosk Platform Conversion Project
Build-A-Bear (BAB) was one of the first retailers to integrate kiosk technology as a mission critical aspect of their business. Every customer uses the “Name-Me” kiosks as part of the Build-A-Bear experience. As the organization rapidly grew to almost 200 locations in six years the kiosk struct0ure had become fragmented. There were three disparate systems driving subsets of the more than 1,200 Name-Me kiosks internationally. The differences in each system caused many problems when it came to updating the kiosks and trying to maintain a uniform interface across all locations. Effectively each change had to be recreated three times.
Build-A-Bear approached Nanonation to convert the entire network of kiosks to a single unified platform based on Nanonation's Nanopoint software and to maintain the same interface that customers had become so familiar with. Nanonation not only delivered a port of the BAB kiosk interface into the Nanopoint environment but was able to add several functional enhancements to the system BAB was unable to do with their previous systems. The result is a company wide, international deployment of a single unified system. Best of all, the entire Nanonation development was completed in less than 100 days.
